iREP was created from questions about identity, belonging, faith, and culture.

What does it mean to grow up between worlds?

How do you represent every part of who you are when your story stretches across continents?

iREP Apparel was born from those questions. What started as personal expression evolved into something much larger. A community. A conversation. A shared experience between people across the African diaspora navigating culture, heritage, and self-discovery in their own way.

Today, iREP exists to strengthen cultural ties through fashion and storytelling while encouraging deeper appreciation for African heritage and diasporic identity.

THE BEGINNING

In 2013, David Aboagye began exploring questions surrounding identity and belonging.

As a West-African American with Ghanaian roots who grew up across two continents, he understood the complexity of existing between cultures. Fashion became a creative outlet to express the most meaningful parts of who he was: his African identity, his American upbringing, his faith, and his desire to inspire positivity through representation.

From that intersection, the first iREP designs were created.

Over the years, the brand evolved alongside life itself. New ideas emerged. Different versions of the brand came and went. But one thing never disappeared: the community’s connection to iREP.

People kept asking questions.
“When is the next drop?”
“What happened to the brand?”
“Where can I still get the pieces?”

The message became clear. iREP represented something bigger than apparel.

THE MISSION EVOLVED

During Ghana’s historic Year of Return, millions across the diaspora traveled back to the continent in search of reconnection, reflection, and understanding.

It was during this time that iREP’s purpose became clearer.

Conversations with diasporic communities sparked deeper reflections around migration, representation, spirituality, culture, and belonging. The brand matured from fashion into something more intentional.

iREP became a bridge.
